Program Principles

The Alliance advocates air quality and other regulatory programs consistent with these principles:

• solutions to environmental problems should be guided by sound, verifiable scientific evaluations
• environmental benefits should be weighed against the potential for business closures, competitive disadvantage, job loss, and overall business productivity
• administrative burdens, such as recordkeeping and reporting requirements, must be the minimum necessary to assure compliance
• new and innovative control techniques must be cost effective, practical, and have been achieved in practice
